You need a Driver CPC Card to be a working driver, this is known as a DQC - Driver Qualification Card.

For first time LGV licence holders you'll need Initial Driver CPC and it is taken in two parts.
Part 1 (module 2) is a computer based theory test and uses case studies, each one based on real-life scenarios you may meet in your working life. It aims to test your knowledge and how you put it into practice. You are asked questions in a number of different ways such as multiple choice answers, clicking an area on a photograph/image or by typing a short answer.
Each test will be made up of 7 case studies, each one with 6 to 8 questions, with a maximum possible score of 50 (of which the pass mark will be 40). The test will take 90 mins to complete.
Part 2 (module 4) Driver CPC is a practical module and focuses on vehicle safety. In this 30 mins test you will be required to demonstrate your knowledge and ability in the areas listed below:
- There are five areas of knowledge:
-Ability to load the vehicle, paying attention to safety rules
-Security of the vehicle and its contents
-Ability to prevent criminality and trafficking in illegal immigrants, for example, what should you do if you have returned to the vehicle after taking a comfort break on a ferry or border crossing.
-Ability to assess emergency situations
-Ability to complete a physical walk road vehicle safety check
The theory test must be passed before the practical part.
After successfully completing the licence acquisition tests and the Driver CPC tests the Driver Qualification Card (DQC) is sent, free of charge, to the same address as appears on the Driving Licence. Drivers must always carry their DQC when undertaking driving work as there are penalties if found to be driving professionally without one.

- Brigitta Lovick,
I have found everything very efficient, well organised at all times.I mainly dealt with John in the office, who was very patient with me explaining all the ins and outs, so even I can get my head around it! My last instructor was Terry ( Enfield) and his training was absolutely amazing. He cares for his students and wants them to succeed. He put forth all the effort from his part . I enjoyed every minute of it. I highly recommend Wallace for anybody who wishes to further their career by gaining more entitlements on their licence.
