Carbon Reduction Projects
Wallace School of Transport will develop the following initiatives
Strategy | Initiative |
Commitment | Sign up to UN Global Compact Sustainable Suppliers Training Programme |
Engagement of Team | Continued employee engagement across all our business operations. We have an established Net Zero Manager who will continue to act as the main channel for co-ordinating our carbon reduction activities, actions, and communications. The Net Zero Manger meets quarterly with our Directors and documents completed actions and helps set the agenda for future meetings. |
Sustainable Travel Policy | To have a sustainable travel/transport policy in place by March 2026. The Net Zero Manager will continue to monitor and review the Company policy for all work-related travel. This is fed back to the key stakeholders within the business for sign off. |
Sustainable Supplier Policy | To develop a sustainable supplier policy by March 2026. The survey and plan will be formulated in early 2026 and the roll out will commence in Q2 2026 |
Energy Review | In 2025 we have started to carry out a review of energy usage across the site, this has included previous installation of double-glazed windows, heat retaining flat roof refurbishment, water and voltage metering/optimisation, and LED adoption in all our common rooms. |
Sustainable Company Car Policy | We longer have company cars but should the need arise we would hire or purchase electric cars (as has the Director and other members of staff with their personal vehicles). |
Sustainable Fleet | Replacement of older fleet with newer more efficient models. And we are working towards a time when Truck Manufactures produced economically viable electric vehicles that are serviceable as Training Vehicles. |
Paperless working | Aim to be paperless within 24 months. Increase use of IT systems to reduce paper/card issues and associated waste management costs. |
