DVSA changed the LGV register of instructors. It is now managed by NRI & NVDIR (industry-led bodies) which allows DVSA to concentrate on driving test supply needs.
Wallace is accredited by NRI and NVDIR to deliver LGV instructor training.

Training is conducted at our SLOUGH training centre for people who have held their LGV licence, by test, for over 3 years.
Fees include a fully equipped Wallace training vehicle (either C or C+E as appropriate) with a qualified, occupationally competent, experienced instructor. Training is arranged on a 1 to 1 basis, 4 hours per day, although by special arrangement shared training (2 to 1) may be available.
Fees are quoted per candidate. All fees are subject to VAT at 20%.
Initial Course – New Entrant
For experienced LGV drivers or Assessors who wish to deliver LGV driver training and most likely will not have any previous driving instructor experience or formal instructor training (car, bus or truck) before.

Qualified & Experienced Instructors Conversation Course
Suitable for (as an example) a Qualified Manual Handling Instructor or ADI who holds LGV Licence and has had formal training or is an existing qualified instructor in another transport related field.
7 days - £2,362.50 + NRI Exams Fee £423 + NRI Registration fee £65
Existing experienced LGV Instructor who now requires formal qualification
Suitable for people with at least 2 years full time practical experience delivering LGV driver training. Or someone regaining LGV Instructor qualification.
5 days - £1,732.50 + NRI Exams Fee £423+ NRI Registration fee £65
Renewal of NRI LGV Instructor Qualification
Suitable for existing NRI instructor currently delivering LGV instruction
4 days - £1,323+ NRI Exams Fee £423 + NRI Registration fee £65
All four parts of the NRI Examination is delivered on last day of training.
Before attending, NRI instructors must prepare their Multiple Choice Theory test, as there is no time available to complete this study during the practical course.
Part 3 & 4 examination scenarios are provided 3 working days before your exam, so please allow time for preparation and revision for these In-Cab and Classroom which is required on top of the training course time.
EXAM PART ONE - THEORY TEST
90 minutes test, 100 multiple choice questions on instructional techniques, legislation, The Highway Code & Safe driving and testing. The overall pass mark is 85% and a minimum of 80% in each of the 4 subject areas. Instructors must prepare for this test in advance of attending their practical course. It is not a simple Q & A test, detailed knowledge is required to pass. Study material listed on above link must be thoroughly absorbed BEFORE the first day of practical training. EXAM PART TWO
PRACTICAL DRIVING ABILITY- A minimum 1 hour drive. You must not incur any serious or dangerous faults and no more than 6 driving faults during one of two off road exercises (chosen on the day by the examiner).
EXAM PART THREE
IN-CAB TRAINING- A 60-minute role play in-cab training test in 3 parts:
- 20 minutes – Deliver training for a new skill – 33/47
- 20 minutes – Remedial Training for a candidate suffering skill fade – 27/39
- 20 minutes – Demonstration drive & commentary (post-test failure) – 51/73
EXAM PART FOUR
CLASSROOM TRAINING 30-minute role play/ test of classroom training. The pass mark is 84/120.
After Successful Completion of the 4 parts exam, to finalise enrolment, a completed registration form agreeing to NRI's T's & C's is sent with all documents for approval. The NRI photocard with registration number is issued within 10 - 15 days and is valid for 5 years.
Should a re-sit of examination be required:
Each part-pass is valid for 12 months, so a re-sit of any part must be taken and passed within 12 months of the taking the first test appointment. After 12 months of your first test appointment you would need to re-sit all four tests.
Practical / Classroom (part 2, 3 and/or 4) - Wallace fee £472.50+VAT plus NRI fee £423+VAT
Theory (part 1) - Wallace fee £157.50+VAT plus NRI fee £105+VAT
