When your Provisional PCV Entitlement arrives, we recommend an Assessment Lesson

Our instructor will evaluate your current driving skills, relevant driving experience and training needs.  We then provide you with training recommendations and an accurate training quotation based on those findings.
Our Assessment Lesson gives you the opportunity to visit our school and try our vehicles and establish for yourself the quality of our training and school facilities, without the obligation to make a course booking.

Need the Forms to apply for your Provisional Licence?

Phone us in office hours and we're happy to send them to you FREE of CHARGE

Did You Know?

If you already hold an Automatic Bus Licence you can obtain a coach licence after passing your test on either on a Manual Coach or on a Lorry.

If you decide to take lorry training and test, as our lorries have manual gear boxes, not only will you obtain a LGV C (HGV Class 2) licence to drive a 32 tonne truck, but you'll also 'upgrade' your Automatic Bus Licence to a Manual Coach Licence.  But don't forget to do this you will also need to get Provisional LGV entitlement and pass an LGV theory test before sitting your LGV Driving Test.

And likewise, if you already hold LGV C (HGV Class 2) lorry licence you can get an all-types Manual Coach Licence after passing your test on a Automatic Bus, but again you would need to hold provisional PCV entitlement and pass a PCV theory test to do this.

Optare XL2 - Automatic PCV Training Vehicle

Good Manoeuverability and all round visibility

Many people choose to obtain an Automatic Bus Licence because it is easier to learn to drive than a manual coach and there are plenty of opportunities for working as a bus driver. For example, all of London’s Red Buses are automatics.

If you want a job driving a Minibus for a School or for Private Hire, or to drive a stretch limousine, you will need to obtain a D1 licence by passing a PCV driving test.

People who obtained their car licence before January 1997 may hold restricted D1 entitlement to drive a minibus for social and pleasure, but anyone wanting to driver a vehicle with over seven seats for Hire and Reward will need to test the driving test to obtain full PCV entitlement.
