SUCCESS STORIES

With over 40 years of driver training to our credit we have a huge number of success stories to call upon. People who passed with our school have come from all walks of life - from circus performers to test pilots, from 'occasional' drivers to champion race drivers. For some, acquiring their new qualification has been the first step to a rewarding career.

Here are a few of our recent successes.

Nicola Hawkins – Four Seasons Health Care

Dear Tom - a big thank you for all your hard work you have done with me.'

Nicola is a care worker. She needed her PCV D1 – minibus licence to qualify her to take patients to and from their home and Health Centre or hospital.
As an experienced car driver she didn’t have too many problems learning to drive the minibus and reached test standard with just above average amount of training hours. However on test her usual confidence deserted her and she developed ‘test nerves’.

Tom, her instructor, would remind her about the correct sequence for checking mirrors, and next time it was her lane discipline or lack of judgement when entering a roundabout. When she passed, after her ….attempt her examiner joked “I don’t know why you struggled before?
That was a lovely drive!”

Lee and Wayne Mundy

When Wayne contacted us to arrange his and his brothers’ LGV training, it came of somewhat a surprise to find out they were Identical Twins.

After their assessments they decided on a 5 day Shared Course leading into tests on the same day, Lee on the 8.30am and Wayne on the 1pm.

We’re pleased to say Wayne passed first time and Lee on his second attempt.

We had hoped to take a “double photo” of them both with Simon, their instructor, but unfortunately Wayne wasn’t available on the second day.

The photo’s below we taken on two separate dates – honest!

Wallace ‘Old Boys’

Not too long ago we were contacted by Ian Dearlove who was making an enquiry about training for his friend. Ian passed with us around five years ago. “I’ve still got the photo of when I passed in my cab. I’ve worked all over Europe – I love driving – It’s much better than my old job as a mechanic”.
Ian took his “HGV 1” when you could still go from car to articulated vehicle driver in one test. It’s nice to hear from him again.

Late last year Lee McGlinchey re-contacted us about gaining his PCV qualifications as he wanted to move into the limousine business.

Since passing with us back in 1994 he’s held several driving jobs but perhaps one of the most unusual was working at B.A. at Heathrow pushing Concord out of it’s hanger. Congratulations on passing your Passenger Carrying Vehicle Licence and good luck, Lee, in your new career.

Lee Richmond

It’s not the first time one of our clients has passed a driving test without errors and here’s another drivers who, in the words of the Eurovision Song Contest, has achieved ‘nul points’.

Lee Richmond completed 24 hours training with our instructor Tom Moran in July 2003. The examiner Steve Jones (in far right of photo) was really impressed with his driving, as Lee was his first candidate to pass without errors.

Lee was really pleased too, because at the time also visiting the driving test centre was Lyn Featherstone, who is the Chair of the Transport Committee from the Mayor of Londons office who congratulated Tom and Lee on their good work and effort.
