Lorry Loader Crane Certification

Our ITSSAR & RTITB accredited training on Lorry Loader Crane will give you a certificate to operate what is commonly known as a Hiab.  Hiab is a manufacturer’s name (like Palfinger or Atlas) however as Hiab were one of the first manufacturers to develop lorry loader cranes, their name is the one that a lot of people use to describe the equipment.

Lorry Loader Crane certificates are required for variety of work, for example at stone masons, steel fabricators and street furniture installations as well as timber merchants, builders’ merchants and roofing suppliers.

Wallace School Lorry Loader Crane Remote control trainingMany drivers gain a certificate themselves before approaching employers.  However, we also provide training for companies so their technicians and installers get upskilled to meet developments such as new or bigger vehicles.

Our training can be On-Site using clients vehicle machinery and equipment or  we can provide all facilities and vehicle fitted with remote controls and brick grab at our own training centre in Park Royal, London, NW10 7AR

Wallace School Hiab Lorry Loader Crane TrainingTraining consists of theory lessons and practical demonstrations/exercises, all of which are supported by the use of OHP & films covering:

  • An Introduction to the Construction Industry
  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
  • Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations
  • Health and Safety at Work Order
  • Other current relevant regulations
  • Introduction to machine
  • Pre - shift inspections
  • Controls and instruments
  • Components and main types of lorry loaders
  • Use of the loader to load and unload the bed of the lorry
  • Training covers knowledge of use of grab & claw attachments

Courses are between one to three days, depending on the operators current experience with lorry loader cranes (or working with other hydraulic machines), and whether any previous formal training, or an expired certificate is relevant.
