LGV Training

LGV C1 - Large Vans/Trucks up to 7.5t

After January 1997, passing a UK car test or exchanging a foreign licence to a UK licence means you have a category B licence to drive cars and vans up to a maximum of 3.5 tonneswallace 4.6t training vehicle for C1 entitlement .

Drivers over age 18 may want to drive bigger vehicles for work as a delivery driver or an ambulance driver, or for pleasure driving a horse box or recreational vehicle. With LGV C1 drive up to 7.5 tonnes and if you need to tow a trailer C1+E we provide training for that too.                                 Our LGV C1 training vehicles - 4.6 tonnes

Our specially selected LGV C1 vehicles are ideal for training, meeting all DSA requirements, and are available in Greenwich, Park Royal and Wembley:

  • hydraulic brakes and other simple car like gears and controls.
  • compact dimensions so there's no difficulty manoeuvring and negotiating driving hazards.
  • you'll save time and money by learning quickly.
  • FREE Air brakes familiarisation lesson for C1 Truck Driver Training Course Clients (not Ambulance on Courses) for anyone intending to drive a full size 7.5 tonne vehicle.

Remember - you can 'jump' the C1 licence and go straight to LGV C to drive up to 32 tonne vehicles if you are happy to take a few more training hours to learn on the bigger vehicles.

Need to help to pass your theory tests?

We supply DSA books, DVDs, CR-Roms and On-Line Learning. See LGV Theory Test Help

Ready to arrange your theory tests?

Go on the DSA website twice. Once to arrange the Multiple Choice (MC) appointment and again to arrange the Hazard Perception (HP).  If you want to take both tests on the same day, book the MC test first, then allow time either side of that appointment to sit the HP test.  The MC test lasts 1 hour 10 minutes and the HP lasts 40 minutes.Click here to book your LGV Multiple Choice and Hazard Perception Theory tests

Ready to Start Driver Training?

Once you've got your Provisional and passed your theory tests you are ready to start an intensive course of training, or single lessons to suit you for daytime, evening or weekends.

How much training do I need?  How much will it cost?

We recommend a DRIVING ASSESSMENT which lasts approximately one hour, when an instructor can see your driving skills and relevant driving experience and advise on the training you'll need to pass so then we can quote you.  Don't forget to ask about our PASS PROTECTION

Looking for work as a C1 deliver driver?

You'll need to sit Driver CPC tests - Case Study Theory Test (Moudule 2) and Practical Demonstration Test (Module 4). We can help you with these.
Your Driver CPC theory test can be taken on the same day as your MC & HP tests although many clients prefer to arrange this test later. Ambulance/Paramedic drivers are exempt from Driver CPC because of their Blue Light Training. (also see our Your Future Career and Jobs page)
